Beatnoir Most of the music the band are now playing is Beatnoir. Beatnoir comprises exciting sounds with a hint of darkness. It is transitional but not progressive. In a sense it is a musical equivalent of Art Nouveau, taking organic forms and stylising them into a graphic form. It is also slightly Dadaist being part of the Recontextualist Movement. The trademarks of Beatnoir are a striking omnipotent beat, sometimes an off-beat rhythm but with an unpredictable chord structure or lyric. This has led some journalist to draw comparisons with psychedelic bands such as Spirit and Iron Butterfly, glam outfits like early Slade and Bolan as well as new wave punk and ska. The dark subtext to the subjects of the songs, contained in the lyric is often hidden just below the surface.
