Where We've Been

Ayd had been playing solo acoustic gigs around Oxford since 1991 and it was at one of these gigs in 1995 that a mutual friend of Antwan's suggested Ayd join them to form a electric rock 'n' roll band. Impressed with Ayd's back catalogue of over two hundred songs they formed a four-piece and started gigging under the name of Dreamweaver. They were the first band to perform live on Oxford's student radio (then called Oxygen FM) and with a new lineup, played at Sound City in 1997, winning the Radio One Demo Jury with 'Suzy in the Sun' a track off their first EP, 'The World Turns All Around' which had an initial pressing of 500. This was followed in 1998 by a limited edition second EP, 'The Life and Times of Jackie Jenkins'.

After playing numerous gigs in Oxford, Reading and London the change in musical style forced a couple of line-up changes. They reduced the lineup to a power trio leading to the formation of the Beatnoir sound in 2000. In in 2001 they were invited by the Levellers producer, Al Scott, to record at the Metway Studios in Brighton. The sessions produced two singles: 'A Shot From Ma Gun' and 'Glam Girl' as well as a track for the NBC show SK8, 'The Mastermind'. After a string of succesful multimedia gigs in Oxford and London they hit a crisis and suddenly fell silent.

It's exactly three years later and the sound of rock is back.
